The Woman In The Aisle

she pushes her cart

hurriedly down the aisle

with eyes not quite emerald

but more than green

chest held lightly

by white linen blouse

mouth and nose wrapped

in silken lilac kerchief

like a man fallen overboard

i desperately flail my arms in the water

by searching her eyes

for the life that i am missing

by seeking in her breasts

the sustenance that i am lacking

i drown in the desperation

of my own hollowness
